I bought this car to keep, as I'd always wanted a Bentley, but the roads around here are too small, single track and dirty. By the time I've travelled a couple of miles it looks like it's been through a field, not a good look for a Bentley, and moving into a ditch to allow tractors to pass isn't ideal either.....so I've bought a 4.4 V8 Range Rover instead!
Car drives extremely well, as you'd expect at only 78,000 miles, and on inspection the underneath is in very good condition, as is the exhaust.
The things that need doing are:
1/ Interior blower fan/resisitor need replacing(heater + flaps, HEVAC unit all good and fully working). I've had it inspected by a Bentley specialist hoping it might've been an external wiring/relay fault but no it needs the dash to come out. This can be a 40hr job, I've been quoted £2k labour by a couple of Bentley specialists, parts are BMW 7 series for less than £200 new. I've also had a 'quote' from a car electronics firm in the Midlands, that specialise in BMWs, for only £400 to £500 labour but as they've not done the job before so I'm not sure??
2/ Sport button on gear knob not working. Car's fast enough without it so I wasn't going to bother unless whilst fitting the fan motor they fixed it cheaply?
3/ AC has a leak behind the AC compressor, either a pipe or the compressor but would need further investigation. Heater still works hot and cold, especially after the new fan motor has been fitted, so again unless really necessary I wasn't going to fix this if I was keeping the car.
The car is priced to allow for the new owner's expenses, or time, to have a new fan motor and resistor fitted. I was considering fitting it myself but it's a complicated job and as I've decided the car isn't suited to our local roads have decided against it. Ideal for a competent diy home mechanic to save £2k.
Part exchange considered but this is a private sale, reduced from £13,995 to £12,995, any inspection invited/welcomed.
Due to these unprecedented times, and as we are trying to self isolate as much as possible, in depth phone discussions will need to take place before any viewing etc.
